Who we are

AI Besties is an Australian online education business operated by Jackson Potter and Abbie Fowler. We sell digital courses that teach people how to use AI tools to save time at work and in life.

What we collect

We only collect information that's genuinely needed to run the course and keep improving it.

• Name and email address — collected when you purchase a course or sign up for our free guide. Used for account access, course delivery, and occasional updates.
• Industry or business type — collected optionally during signup. Helps us make the course content more relevant to you.
• Course progress — we track which chapters you've completed. This lets us personalise your experience and helps us understand which content is working.
• Payment information — processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We do retain a record of your purchase amount and date.
• Login activity — we use email OTP (a one-time code sent to your inbox) for access. We log when you log in so we can troubleshoot access issues.
• Device and browser data — basic technical data (browser type, device type, approximate location) collected automatically when you visit our site. We use this to fix bugs and improve the experience.

We don't run hidden tracking pixels, sell advertising, or build profiles beyond what's needed to deliver the course.

How we use it

• Sending your login code and giving you access to course content
• Tracking your progress through the course so you can pick up where you left off
• Sending course-related updates — new chapters, corrections, important announcements
• Improving the course based on how students actually use it
• Processing refunds if requested
• Responding to support requests

We'll only email you about the course or topics directly relevant to it. We won't add you to unrelated marketing lists without asking first.

Third parties we use

We work with a small number of trusted service providers. Each one handles your data only to the extent needed to provide their service.

We do not sell your data to any third party. Ever. We do not use your data for advertising targeting on any platform.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. Course access uses one-time codes (OTP) rather than passwords, which significantly reduces the risk of unauthorised access. Our hosting and database providers maintain their own security certifications.

No system is 100% secure. If there's ever a data breach that affects you, we'll notify you promptly in line with our obligations under the Privacy Act.

How long we keep your data

• Active student records — kept for the duration of your course access plus 12 months.
• Purchase records — kept for 7 years to meet Australian tax and accounting requirements.
• Email records — kept for up to 3 years for support purposes.
• Inactive accounts — if you haven't accessed your account in 3 years, we'll delete your personal data (purchase records excluded).

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Ask us what personal information we hold about you
• Correct any information that's inaccurate or out of date
• Request that we delete your personal information (subject to our legal record-keeping requirements)
• Opt out of any marketing communications
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you're not happy with how we've handled your data

Cookies

We use minimal cookies — primarily a session cookie that keeps you logged into your course. We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how people use our site — page views, traffic sources, and general geographic region. Google Analytics does not collect personal information and we have IP anonymisation enabled. We don't use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and — if the changes are significant — email you a heads-up. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last updated.
